A STORIED HISTORY
Year 1997
Bertrand Massé, a talented and visionary cabinetmaker, founds Prestige Metal. His goal is to create a line of ornamental iron balusters for wooden steps and bannisters. His idea takes off and, two years later, Prestige Metal wins the Innovation award at Expo Habitat Québec..
Year 2000
Prestige Metal acquires its own production facility on Route de l’Aéroport in Québec City and centralizes production of all its staircase parts and accessories there.
Year 2003
The success of its staircase accessories, balusters, newel posts, balustrades, and bannisters spurs Prestige Metal to relocate to a new facility at 2120 Rue Lavoisier, in Quebec City’s Jean-Talon Industrial Park, where it still operates today.
Year 2004
Prestige Metal changes hands, and is now under the leadership of a group of business people headed up by Claude Lafrance.
Year 2006
Prestige Metal launches its special-order program at home renovation centers across Quebec and Ontario. It also sets up a research and development team to keep a constant eye on the latest industry developments and to visit the major international design and architecture shows to monitor trends for indoor staircases.
Year 2010
In a bid to promote its balusters, newel posts, and stairway accessories beyond Quebec, Prestige Metal decides to expand into the Ontario market. Another successful initiative!
Year 2011
The latest trends in stainless steel are now on offer from Prestige Metal, as new posts, horizontal stainless-steel systems, glass clamps, and more are added to the lineup.
Year 2013
Prestige Métal adds to its creations a new collection of steel stair stringers (Oslo, Paris, Tokyo) with incomparable design and durability, acclaimed by building contractors and architects.
Year 2016
Prestige Metal launches a new line of spiral staircases.
Year 2017
Prestige Metal is sold on April 1, 2017, to new owners André Gagné and Franco Serli.
Year 2019
Prestige Métal adds a new steel stair stringer, the New York, to its creations. Without fasteners or visible screws, it draws simple and essential lines in space, without any garnish. It provides a classic line suitable for any type of interior decoration.
Year 2021
Two new stringer creations have been added to the prestigious collection for which it is famous, San Diego and Chicago. With its sober and elegant lines, the San Diego is ideal for a contemporary universe. The Chicago, for its part, surprises with its presence that is both strong and discreet. It will amaze the most curious with its unique design.
Year 2023
New building acquisition next to our factory to expand and increase our production capacity to meet growing demand.
