Do the balusters have a welded washer at the top and bottom?

Prestige Metal Tip Always perforate the wooden bannister before inserting the pins. This allows for greater flexibility when you install your balusters.

How can I calculate the number of balusters I need for my stairway?

Basic concept: in a stairway, a “sequence” is the distance covered for each repetition of a set of balusters.
  • For a sequence composed only of balusters

Measure the total distance to cover (the space between the first and last post) Subtract 4 from the total distance Divide this number by 4 and round up to the next whole number. The result of the calculation is the number of balusters needed to cover this sequence.

  • For a sequence composed of panels and balusters

Measure the distance covered by the selected sequence Calculate the number of sequences needed to cover that distance. Prestige Metal Tip Some configurations require more advanced calculations. To make sure you meet building codes, we recommend validating your calculations with one of our distributors.
